Cecil County medical cannabis firm SunMed Growers has brought on Baltimore lawyer William D. “Bill” Shaughnessy Jr. to serve as in-house counsel amid plans for major growth.

To keep up with Maryland’s rapidly growing medical cannabis market, SunMed Growers recently completed a massive greenhouse expansion, tripling the cultivation space for what was already one of the state’s largest marijuana producers.

SunMed will build out a new 30,000-square-foot cannabis processing lab and commercial kitchen on its Warwick campus.

The patented Hemp Pots system helps SunMed Growers produce healthier cannabis plants with higher yields.

SunMed Growers was previously able to harvest about 800 plants per week at its Warwick facility. It will now have the capacity to harvest over 2,000 plants per week.

The air inside SunMed Growers’ sprawling, $10 million marijuana greenhouse was thick with the citrusy aroma of freshly harvested Lemon Skunk.
