When and where can I buy cannabis products?
Beginning July 1, 2023, individuals 21 and older can purchase cannabis products legally from any licensed dispensary that has converted its license from medical cannabis only to both medical and adult-use cannabis products. A list of licensed dispensaries that have converted their license to sell adult-use products will be posted on the Maryland Cannabis Commission’s website before July 1.
What will I need to purchase adult-use cannabis products from a licensed dispensary?
You will need a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID card, passport/passport card, military ID or tribal card) at the point of sale to demonstrate that you are 21 years or older.
Is there a limit on the amount of adult-use cannabis products I can purchase at one time?
Maryland law authorizes the purchase of up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis flower, 12 grams of concentrated cannabis or a total amount of cannabis products that does not exceed 750 mg THC at one time. This amount is known as the "personal use amount."
Will the legalization of adult-use cannabis impact access to medical cannabis?
No. Patients with a medical cannabis card may continue to obtain medical cannabis from licensed dispensaries, and individuals 18 years or older can still register to participate in the program. The new law also establishes patient-only operating hours, product availability, and other accommodations to ensure that registered medical cannabis patients can continue to access necessary medications. See the links below for more information about medical cannabis in Maryland.
Will a medical card still be required to purchase medical cannabis?
Yes. A medical card is still needed to purchase medical cannabis products.
